Greenwich Students' Union
The video featured in this case study was produced during my time at Greenwich Students’ Union (GSU). All rights to the content remain with GSU. It is shared here solely to document my contribution to the project.
During the summer of 2024, I created an Instagram reel titled “Until Next Time” to celebrate the University of Greenwich’s graduation ceremonies and mark this milestone in a fun and memorable way.
GSU targeted graduating, current, and prospective students by creating an engaging reel that celebrated achievement and stood out on social media.
The biggest hurdle was finding the right tone for the video. GSU wanted a humorous spin to keep the content light-hearted and relatable, while also conveying a deeper message given the occasion’s significance.
Therefore, in the reel I showed, one of the students was excited to walk the aisle for graduation but soon got emotional when he realised how much he would miss Greenwich after crossing the aisle, i.e. graduating, which marks the end of his Greenwich journey. This reflected how students feel at graduation ceremonies – an emotional mix of excitement and sadness, which the reel showed in a light-hearted way.
The reel was a massive success, becoming one of the most-played videos on the GSU Facebook channel and garnering nearly 20,000 views on Instagram. More than just numbers, it sparked a lively conversation in the comments, making it an engaging piece that resonated with the community.
I was proud to meet GSU’s goal of blending humour with a heartfelt goodbye to campus, celebrating graduates’ hard work. Creating this reel brought back memories of my own graduation from Loughborough – it made me realise how much that experience and the university shaped the person I am today.
